The Eagles sent 2 wrestlers into the Championship finals and 2 into the Consolation finals. Those 4 men picked up 2 Gold medals and 1 Bronze medal. At 103 pounds, Brian Sharp won Gold with a 9-7 decision. Sharp defeated Cong Cap from Eastside High School of South Carolina; Cap finished 4th in the SC 3A State Championships last year and is currently ranked second in SC. Eastside is a perennial SC powerhouse ... the 3A state champions in 2000 and currently ranked first in the state. William Farmer picked up Gold at 215 with a thrilling 8-7 victory over East Wilkes' J.T. Holleman; Holleman finished 4th in the NC 1A/2A State Championships last year. Charlie Garrett picked up his Bronze medal with a 3rd period pin in the 160 pound class, and Logan McHargue scored a 4th place finish in the 189 pound class. |
