The Eagles sent 7 wrestlers into the Championship finals and 4 into the Consolation finals. Those 11 men picked up 4 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 2 Bronze medals. At 112 pounds, James Pickard won Gold with a 7-3 decision over North Wilkes's Joseph Kennedy. In the 152 pound match, Bryant Reid struck Gold with a 3rd period pin of Ashe County's Owen Renz. At 189 pounds, Logan McHargue earned a Gold medal when he pinned Jason Breneman of Piedmont in the 3rd period William Farmer scored the Eagles 4th Gold of the day when he pinned Josh Beck of Elkin in the 3rd period to win the 215 pound class. Silver medalists were Brian Sharp (103), Phillip Stone (130), and Charlie Garrett (160). Bronze medalists were John Holloway (125) and Sebastian Church (140). Congratulations to Coach Shepherd and the entire Eagle team on a great performance. Special "attaboys" to first-time Gold medalists James Pickard, Bryant Reid, and Logan McHargue. |
